iPad mini 2 Case Thinner Than Its Predecessor; iPad 5 With Touch ID Surfaces

Recent 9to5mac (via Macotakara) reported that Apple’s next generation iPad mini might indeed feature the much sought-after Retina display.

At the time, Mark Gurman reported that Apple iPad mini 2 will be launched with retina display with the minor trade-off of some extra thickness and width. As was the case when the third generation made the move to retina display.

Contrary to the 9to5mac report, C TECH is now reporting that the iPad mini 2 will actually be thinner than its predecessor.

According to the report, the actual thickness of the iPad mini 2 case is 6.81 mm compare to 7.2 mm of the original iPad mini. However, all is not lost. Perhaps Apple will be using their LG IGZO display technology, making the iPad mini 2 thinner and lighter.

As a pleasant bonus. The image of the iPad mini 2 also shows a purported image of the iPad 5 with Touch ID in the background.
