Apple Sent Out Invitation To iPad Mini Event

Apple iPad mini invite

Apple has sent out invitations to the press for an event on October 23. The iPad Mini along with a new MacBook Pro with Retina Display and iMac are likely to be unveil at this event.

Jim Dalrymple of The Loop had this to say about the invite:

Apple on Tuesday announced a special event to be held on October 23, 2012 in San Jose. The event is scheduled to take place at 10:00 am PT.

Unlike other recent events that have been held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Apple will hold this event at the California Theatre in San Jose .

It is widely expected that Apple will use this event to unveil a smaller form-factor iPad.

The tagline on the invitation reads,  We’ve got a little more to show you”

9to5Mac has published a list of the iPad mini SKUs today, this indicates that Apple is about to launch 24 models of the iPad mini.

According to the report:

The list shows four variants (P101, P103, P105, and P107), it appears Apple is set to launch four different models of the iPad mini in each capacity and color. With rumors of a Lightning connector in an updated iPad 3, it is possible two of the four models are for that. The models listed are also marked “Good,” “Better,” and “Best,” which seems to indicate there are three storage capacities.

With the three storage capacities, four models, and lastly—two colors denoted by “A” and “B” (likely black and white), Apple will launch 24 new iPad models. Apple will also sell 10 packs of iPad minis to education for a discount, according to the SKUs.

In another report, 9to5mac stated that Apple is about to unveil new 21-inch and 27-inch iMac models also based on SKUs information they received.

According to the article:

Listed as “D7″ and “D8″ in the SKUs above, we see two refreshed models. They are presumably for the 21-inch and 27-inch variants that Apple currently sells. We have recently heard reports that Apple is planning to introduce new iMacs alongside what reports claimed were images of the refreshed iMacs’ internals.

There have also been rumors that Apple will begin selling the refreshed iMacs on Oct. 24—one day after the rumored date of the iPad mini launch event. We are not sure Apple will begin shipping any of the new models on Oct. 24, but we have heard at least some varieties will not ship at launch. However, the SKUs above are pretty good evidence that refreshed models are on the way. We will have more on that in the near future.
