Touch ID Sensor Fits Perfectly into Home Button Opening on iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 [Video]

Touch ID in iPad mini 2

A new video from Unbox Therapy, suggests that Apple’s next-generation iPads might have Touch ID sensor built into the home button.

The video shows that the Home Button of previous iPhones did not fit properly into the home button opening of the purported front panels of the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2. However, when the video maker tried the Home Button of the iPhone 5s with Touch ID – it fitted perfectly.

This is the clearest sign yet that Apple will bring the Touch ID system to the iPad.

Touch ID has been criticized for not being secure enough. Several reports confirmed that the sensor can be compromised by replicating fingerprints the fingerprint of the owner.

However, Touch ID provides a fast and convenient way for users to access their iPhone. It’s especially useful for those who cannot be bothered with setting up a pass code.

Apple is widely expected to unveil the iPad 5 and iPad mini at a special event on October 15.
