Digitimes is reporting that Amazon is set to use a 4.7-inch screen for its upcoming smartphone. According to information from the industry supply chain sources, Amazon’s phone is due to be released in the second quarter of 2013.
“Amazon is reportedly going to use a 4.7-inch screen for its smartphone that is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2013,” Sammi Huang and Alex Wolfgram report for Digitimes. “The company was previously considering a 4.3-inch screen but later scrapped the idea after witnessing increased demand for larger size screens among consumers.”
It has long been rumored that Amazon will release a smartphone to go with its tablet devices and E-readers. .
There is speculation that recent changes to the device may delay mass production of the device until later in the second quarter of the year or possibly later, according to the report.
