Ming-Chi Kuo: New Apple TV Will Play A “Key Role” In Apple’s Highly Connected Ecosystem

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo told investors that the new Apple TV will play a “key role” in Apple’s highly connected ecosystem.

Ming-Chi Kuo believes that consumers can expect the new Apple TV to feature an integrate motion control technology to allow users to easily interact with the device without the need for a physical remote – this is made possible by Apple’s acquisition of PrimeSense and Apple TV App Store.

On the rumored of a full-fledge iTV, Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that Apple won’t enter this space until they have a solid Apple TV ecosystem up and running.

“Considering the high cost involved in creating a TV supply chain, we don’t expect the iTV to debut before the TV ecosystem improves,” Kuo wrote.

Ming-Chi Kuo concludes that the new Apple TV will be unveil late 3Q14, or early  4Q14.

Apple 2014 roadmap

On the next-generation iPhone, Ming Chi Kuo suggests that:

  • iPhone 6 will come in two versions – one with a 4.7-inch display and another with a 5.5-inch display.
  • The 4.7-inch iPhone resolution will be 1334 × 750, pixel density of 326PPI, while the 5.5-inch version will have a 1920 × 1080 display and resolution of 401 PPI.
  • Both smartphones will be using the new A8 processor and 1G memory and 8 mega-pixel camera.
