The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Google is about to launch an iOS Maps app with the much needed Turn-by-Turn feature. This is Google’s response after seeing their Maps app being booted in iOS 6.
According to the report, “Google has distributed a test version of its new mapping app that will work on Apple’s iPhones to some individuals outside the company, said a person with direct knowledge of the matter. Google has been putting the finishing touches on the app before submitting it for approval to the Apple iTunes store.”
The article stated that a Google spoke man had this to say on the matter, “We believe Google Maps are the most comprehensive, accurate and easy-to-use maps in the world. Our goal is to make Google Maps available to everyone who wants to use it, regardless of device, browser, or operating system.”
This new development might be good news for iOS users who are not happy with Apple’s current offering.
The report stated that, “the forthcoming Google Maps app for the iPhone is expected to contain turn-by-turn navigation that would allow people to use it like a GPS device while driving. The turn-by-turn navigation feature didn’t exist in the previous Apple-device version, partly because of various disagreements between the companies over other aspects of the Apple-controlled app.”

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that,” Google has held talks with satellite-TV provider Dish Network in recent weeks to partner on a new wireless service that would rival the networks of wireless carriers such as AT&T and Verizon Wireless, according to people familiar with the discussions.”
According to the report, “Google is just one of several companies that Dish has held talks with recently, and the discussions with other potential partners are also at an exploratory stage.”
It wouldn’t be a surprise if one of the other company involve in discussions is Apple. Rumours about a full fledge Apple TV has been an ongoing discussion in many analysts report to their clients.
