Upsurge In iPhone 5s Sales Take Apple to No.3 Spot In China

According to a new report from GoMo News, Apple has surged to number three in the smartphone market share in China in October. This comes on the back of a successful launch of their flagship iPhone 5s.

The latest figures from research company Counterpoint, illustrate that many Chinese consumer chose the iPhone over competing products, causing Apple’s market share in the country to 12 percent, a significant increase on the 3 per cent in September 2013.

Counterpoint’s Neil Shah said, “Apple’s smartphone market share climbed to the 12 per cent mark in China in October, instantly making it the third largest smartphone player in the market – up from a modest 3 per cent share in September.”

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that China Mobile plans to take preorders for Apple’s latest iPhones from today. This will have a significant impact on Apple’s smartphone market share in China going forward.

China Mobileplans to take preorders for Apple’s iPhones from Thursday in Shanghai, according to an advertisement on its website, as the world’s largest mobile carrier by subscribers moves closer to launching high-speed fourth-generation mobile services in the country.

China Mobile Shanghai’s website, running the “4G is here!” slogan, invited potential customers to preorder the iPhone 5S and other smartphones fromSamsung Electronics Co. and Sony Corp. that support the company’s new 4G mobile network.
