Apple’s iPhone 5S to have NFC Based iWallet and Fingerprint Sensor

 AppleInsider (via China Times) is reporting that Apple is set to introduce Near Field Communication iWallet and fingerprint sensor in the next generation iPhone (iPhone 5S)

According to the report iPhone 5S” will include both the  fingerprint sensor and a near-field communications chip for mobile payments in Apple iWallet. This will allow users to easily authorize transactions securely with their fingerprint.

The fingerprint sensor technology developer AuthenTec. Apple acquired AuthenTec last year approximately  US$ 356 million for exclusive use of their technology.

According to AppleInsider, this report confirms an earlier report by  analyst Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities. At the time, Kuo stated that  the new iPhone 5S will launch sometime in June or July. He also reported that that iPhone will have a similar design to the iPhone 5, features a built-in fingerprint sensor, an improved camera and more powerful A7 system on a chip. The fingerprint sensor is reported to be place under the Home button.
