According to a new report from China, Apple’s next-generation 9.7-inch iPad mass production volume has increased with an October release date expected. The report highlights that the iPad 5 mass production volume in Shenzhen and Chengdu Foxconn has reached 30K / day and 10-15K / day respectively. Based on these current rates, the iPad 5 production capacity in Shenzhen Foxconn should reach 120K / day, by the end of this month, the report said.
The iPad 5 is expected to undergo a radical design change, which will make it looks more like a larger iPad mini instead of the fourth generation iPad. The iPad 5 is expected to feature an A7X processor, 8-megapixel rear camera and 2048 × 1536 resolution display. The display will use the latest technology GF2 lamination technique to cut screen thickness and weight, according to a recent report from WSJ.
