Horace Dediu describes the success of the iPhone as a loyalty story during an interview on Bloomberg TV. According to Deidu, a former employee of Nokia, other brands of phones come and go, however, the demand for the iPhone remains strong after 6 years.
It has always been a loyalty story but nobody knew during the iphone era. iPhones came after a whole lot of other brands out there. Or member the razor and the blackberry. These things tended to go up and down very rapidly.
There was no persistence to that market.
I have worked with nokia for the past few years and I saw that happen to us.
The question was – is the iPhone really just a flash in the pan?
And the answer to that is No.
