In a surprise move, Apple and Samsung have agreed to drop all patent lawsuits between the two companies outside of the United States. However, cases involving the two electronic giants with continue as normal within the US.
“This agreement does not involve any licensing arrangements, and the companies are continuing to pursue the existing cases in U.S. courts,” South Korean tech giant Samsung told Reuters.
Apple and Samsung have been waging a global patent after the former sued the other for stealing their intellectual property relating to mobile devices. While Samsung has gained little from this undergoing war, Apple has been very successful in the US, winning two jury trials in the last three years.
Apple CEO, Tim Cook has previously expressed his frustration about his company’s legal battles with Samsung. Perhaps this is a sign that Tim Cook is about to have his way.
