Writing for CNNMoney, Paul R. La Monica has mustered up an excellent, “Apple is doom/click bait” article. In his piece, La Monica pointed out that Google has become the most innovative company in the tech industry and Apple needs to fight back against Google to reclaim some of its former glory.
Now let’s see what influenced Paul R. La Monica to make such a bold assertion:

During the past few years, Google has become the most innovative company in the tech industry. It has used its cash to buy extremely interesting startups. The $3.2 billion deal for connected home/Internet of Things (we need a better buzz phrase) hardware company Nest on Monday is just the latest example.
Google bought mapping company Waze last year for nearly $1 billion. That could have been a smart deal for Apple, given how maligned its map apps are. (To be fair, Apple has also announced several map-related deals in the past year. But none were as splashy as Waze.)
And last month, Google announced a flurry of acquisitions in robotics, most notably the purchase of military robot maker Boston Dynamics.
What has Apple done in the past few years? Since Steve Jobs passed away in 2011, the spirit of innovation seems to be gone.

So there you have it. Apple is doom and Google is the most innovative tech company in the industry because they bought more start-ups than Apple in the past few years.
On another note, it looks like the ‘most innovative product’ from Google in years – Google Glass – is off to a shaky start.
