Here’s How Apple Could Sell 200 Million iPhones In 2015

Writing for The Motley Fool, Adam Levy posits that Apple is in a great position to sell over 200 million iPhones in 2015. The Cupterino-based company sold 169 million iPhones in 2014, which represents a 13 percent increase in sales from 2013. A similar increase would take the company close to the  200 million mark.

Here are some of the key trends Levy believes would push the iPhone sales to the 200 million in 2015:

  • Most consumers upgrading to the iPhone 6 are moving from an older iPhone. For Apple to reach 200 million iPhones in 2015, it will need to attract more new-to-iPhone users, which is likely to happen given the larger displays on the new iPhones.
  • iPhone retail distribution network is still lagging behind Samsung’s. Apple’s rollout to new markets will help it reach a larger market and naturally sell more iPhones.  Apple plans to triple its retail presence in India next year from where it was in 2013, increase the number of Retail Stores in China from 15 to 40 in two years and the company has only just opened its first retail location in Brazil.
  • The iPhone will be selling for an extra quarter at China Mobile, the world largest mobile carrier, which should boast sales significantly on the carrier from the previous year. The company is also steadily gaining support from other small carriers throughout the world.
