Jony Ives – Apple’s MVP

I’ve always believed that if Jony Ive leaves Apple sometime in the near future, the company will be in serious trouble. I said as much in a recent post. However, this Chapter 13 (Apple’s MVP) in Leander Kahney‘s – Jony Ive: The Genius Behind Apple’s Greatest Products, describes Jony Ive‘s importance to the company, in the absence of Steve Jobs, in a far better way than I ever can. Apple’s MVP [Jony Ive] has more operational power than anyone else at Apple except me. There’s no one who can tell him what to do, or toRead More

Leander Kahney, author ofJony Ive, the Genius Behind Apple’s Greatest Products posits that Ive is now more important to Apple than Job seas before he died in an interview with Dezeen Magazine. Kahney was quick to point that this a quiet a controversial thing to say. He also said that this is probably a testament to the way Jobs went about creating a successful culture at Apple that will last in his absence. However, the future of Apple is not so clear if Ive was to leave the company today. Leander Kahney:Read More

Steve Jobs On The iPod-Plus-Phone: “Honestly, We Can Do Better, Guys” Here are a few quotes from Leander Kahney’s book Jony Ive: The Genius Behind Apple’s Greatest Products. A very insightful book which highlights Apple still has at least one genius at the company after Steve Jobs past away. Leander Kahney on the development of the iPhone: After six months of effort, Fadell’s team produced a prototype iPod-plus-phone that worked, more or less. The iPod’s click wheel was used as a dialer, selecting numbers one at a time like an oldRead More
In response to this post – Apple Should Buy Tesla, Name Elon Musk CEO, I stated the following on Google +: I personally believe that with Steve Jobs gone, Jony Ive is currently irreplaceable at Apple. And this is a very worrying position to be in as a company. I hope someone is being groomed to take over from Jony when he eventually goes. Subsequently, I came across this article on Forbes, which supports my view of Ive’s importance to Apple. Anthony Wing Kosner: “Could Jony Ive be the CEO of Apple?” IRead More
